The Why

Research shows all business metrics (engagement, productivity, profitability) improve when a business is led with sustainability at the forefront.

Most businesses have set ESG targets with the intention of leaving the world a better place.

But executing on those intentions is where many businesses get stuck.

Enter sustainability training and upskilling - the missing piece in the ESG puzzle.

Many business leaders have not yet acquired the skills needed to drive a sustainability agenda. But when they do, the opportunities are tremendous.

What You’ll Gain

Learn how HR practices support ESG and sustainable action.

This event will help you:

  • Develop a business case for driving sustainability in your workplace. We'll give you the framework, confidence and knowledge.

  • Grow employees into empowered people inspired to serve a greater vision and work with a sustainable mindset. We'll show you how.

  • Connect your organisation's purpose to sustainability and make links to day-to-day people activities that can support sustainability action.

Topics We Cover

We'll dive deep into the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), which provide a helpful compass to assess and understand how your workplace can do better. The SDGs are 17 interconnected goals covering various topics such as climate change, gender equality and wellbeing.

We have put the SDGs at the core of this event. You'll walk away with tools to translate the SDGs into tangible action items by showing how to embed them into your organisation's people and culture.

Specifically, you’ll learn:

Business case: You’ll learn the frameworks and the business case for driving sustainability in your workplace - giving you enhanced confidence and sustainability knowledge to take back into your workplaces.

Employee life cycle: We'll show you how to make SDG links to every stage of the employee life cycle.

HR policy: We help link HR policy and NZ employment laws to the SDGs.

HR principles and products: You'll walk away with knowledge of the HR principles and products that support sustainability in the workplace and how to link those principles to everyday HR activities.

ESG and key terms: We'll give you a solid foundational knowledge of what sustainability is and what it's not.

Change management: We’ll show you how you can develop a change plan to support sustainability action and initiatives within your organisation. This will position HR at the helm to drive an inside-out, bottom-up approach for sustainable and inclusive change.

You can also watch Karen Meredith, your event trainer, talk about HR and sustainability at these renowned industry events.

“As we all look to explore sustainability at work and ask the big question of where to start, PeopleEX have done the hard work, developing a series of workshops that will help you create a Sustainability Action Plan for your business.

We, the People and Capability team at Hutt City Council, were lucky enough to recently attend their workshops tailored specifically for HR. If you were like us, and are unsure what HR’s role in sustainability is, PeopleEX will quickly help you understand where you can influence your organisation’s policies, procedures and practices, to meet the Sustainability Development goals of creating prosperity, peace and partnership, while protecting our people and planet. We are now looking at both the little and big ways we can make a difference to our people and communities to help them thrive.”

Katie Shaw, HR Advisory Manager, Hutt City Council

“It has been fantastic working with Karen and the team at PeopleEX! Having experts to speak about the importance of sustainability and HR has been really beneficial for our network of businesses. The 'people' pillar of sustainability can often be overlooked, so having the PeopleEX team share there passion and knowledge has been invaluable. On top of that, their own workplace sustainability and innovation is inspiring and admirable! We're looking forward to working with them on more collaborations in the future.”
